Balance Training & Rehabilitation
Reducing Fall Risk
Nearly every year half of the population in the United States age 65 and over will experience a fall. Ninety percent of the 350,000 hip fractures occurring each year in the US are the result of a fall. Balance disorders can adversely affect a person’s ability to safely function from day-to-day. Our program is designed to benefit a wide spectrum of patients affected by vestibular disorders, peripheral neuropathies, neurogenic disease, dizziness-related cervical dysfunction, high risk for falls, cerebral vascular accidents, disequilibrium.
Now introducing: The BioSway! Patients are challenged to shift and control their center of gravity through an interactive balance game and other rehabilitative training strategies.
Our balance program utilizes multiple assessments to identify and treat specific balance disorders. A Biosway is an integral part of our treatment. This cutting-edge technology is used in testing older adults for balance deficiencies and for concussion management in the athletic populations. The Biosway will establish training programs to maintain mobility, develop muscle tone and improve balance in both clinical and wellness environments. The Biosway can also be used to identify the Fall Risk of a person by comparing balance test results to age-dependent normative data.
Burch Physical Therapy is committed to reducing falls through the identification and treatment of balance disorders.
